Wow, What a Day!

I was trying to figure out what to write about today in the Storehouse's blog.  I have over 52 ideas to write a post each week.  But choosing which one to write about was causing my head to spin.  I finally was able to decide what to write about.  What a day today was.

There were a steady stream of people coming in.  Oh, we had some snags in our day, but our day was wonderful.  The Storehouse was truly blessed today.

We received an incredible donation from a grocery store.  I mean INCREDIBLE!!  I helped stock the shelves and we could barely find room for all the donations.  The variety of the donations were just as incredible.  This is how incredible it was.  We received a large number of bags of tortilla chips.  Not only did we have tortilla chips, but we had salsa and cheese sauce.  Chips and dip for our boxes.  Oh, there were other wonderful items donated that aren't a standard in the boxes.  Families with a large number of children were able to receive a great variety of items that children would absolutely love.

There was more good news.  A van was donated to The Storehouse. A 15 passenger van in good condition. Talk about a blessing from God.  There is so much that can be done with that van for the Storehouse.

So many volunteers were here today sharing these blessings with the families and individuals that came in today.  When they found out what we could do to help them, you could feel the stress leave their bodies.  We may not have been able to take away all of their troubles.  We may not have been able to make everything perfect for them.  But today, we were able to share first hand the grace of God.

As we greet these individuals going through a difficult time, we are greeting them by name.  When they return for additional help, we remember them.  These individuals appreciate being called Mrs or Mr.  They appreciate the small steps we take to make them feel loved and welcome.

I am new at the Storehouse.  I have only been volunteering for two weeks.  It is incredible how much I have been blessed since I began volunteering.  I wish everyone could experience this type of blessing. It is possible you know, all you have to do is contact The Storehouse to begin donating or volunteering.  It is a blessing you  just have to experience.

Reaching people right here, right now,
Dannielyn

Over Ten Years of Providing Service to Henderson County

Can a caring heart make a difference in the lives of hungry people?  It certainly can be if your caring heart is followed up with a motivation to make a difference.  Ten years ago, Lynn Staggs felt a calling to do something about the elderly people in Hendersonville going hungry each month.

So many individuals and families have been assisted during trying times because of the heart of Lynn and her many volunteers and donors.  The Storehouse is located in downtown Hendersonville on 7th avenue.  This Christ centered food and hygiene pantry allows the clients the ability to see Christ in action.

This blog will be sharing about what goes on at the Storehouse.  It will give everyone a glimpse of what can happen in an individual's life one can of food at a time.

Of course, we would love to have you help us out and receive a huge blessing in return.  Here is a list of how you can help:
  • Spread the word about the Storehouse by print, social media and word of mouth.
  • Become a volunteer at the Storehouse.  There are so many ways you can share your gifts, talents and experience at the Storehouse.
  • Donate food or money to help replenish the supplies that are needed each and every month.
  • Become one of our "100 $30 a month" member to keep our pantries full.
  • Tell someone you know that needs assistance to make an appointment to with The Storehouse.
  • Be a part of Blessings in a Box, our Christmas program.
  • Pray for our ministry as we reach out to those who are hungry in Henderson County right here, right now.
Check us out online at http://storehouseonline.org/, email us at thestorehouse@bellsouth.net or call to set up an appointment at 828-692-8300.  The Storehouse at 627 7th Avenue, Hendersonville  is open from 9 am to 2 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week.
